九 JIǓ [9] is a return to memory, heritage and the soft permanence of past blessings. Inspired by a pair of baby-bracelets gifted to me at birth by a thoughtful aunt. With each bracelet charm signifying a specific incarnation of joy and protection for the child.. The collection reflects on love born of hope and well wishes, recreating the nine charms in fine metals, and placing them amongst jade and pure silk. Gently mirroring the powerful meanings of the original charms, each piece is designed to be cherished and kept as a token of consideration.
Made from existing materials found throughout Aotearoa, the collection is a soft investigation of culture and place.
Each piece is handmade with love in Tāmaki Makaurau
Dragon Earring ~ Strength, protection and good fortune are bestowed by the dragon. With symbolism dating back to 3000 BCE, the dragon is also a reminder of warmth and the power of kindness.
