Oat Milk Coffee Briana Jamieson
KAUKAU is pleased to present Oat Milk Coffee, a collection of 6 pieces by Te Whananui-a-Tara based poet & artist, Briana Jamieson.
"Thursday. It was hot and windy outside. Inside the warehouse, sun came through the windows into the kitchen and onto the desk. Paintings leaned up against the concrete wall onto the cooler side of the building. Impressions of paint and movement over large, hand-stretched canvas.
Upstairs, the kitchen was warm and we ate soup and garlic focaccia with white butter. Downstairs, we moved paintings around; carried them with our arms wide. Upstairs again later for a large jug of creamy oat milk coffee and slices of layered banana bread. In the evening we walked up onto the green hill in the wind. I followed a dry dirt track home, weaving through blackberries and long dry grass up to my waist.
Oat Milk Coffee is inspired by a visit to a friend and painter Will Hadwen's studio, observing the textures and shapes of the paint in his work; spending the afternoon talking about paintings; and sharing soup, cake and coffee in their upstairs studio kitchen."
