Soraa Glass

Soraa Glass is the creation of Korean born, Tāmaki Makaurau based designer Jark Pane. Influenced from her multi-disciplinary background spanning between landscape architecture, spatial, graphic design and classical music, the notion of the feminine form within spaces is explored through the delicate yet striking presence of glass.

Individually fettled, kiln-cast and polished by hand, the process of lost wax casting is how each piece is made. A labor-intensive practice of patience that results in desirable outcomes. Jark was taught this technique whilst she was a studio assistant to Katherine Rutecki during her years working for Lukeke Design.

Soraa Glass pieces celebrate the intimate relationship between time and light through thoughtfully sculpted forever pieces. The collection of objects shown at KAUKAU is reminiscent of discovered beach treasures and days spent dreaming in the sunshine - an ode to the salty landscapes of Aotearoa
